The 36th edition of the Trailblazer Cross-Country Invitational gets underway on Thursday, October 9, 2008. With this year's meet, we will unveil a one loop 5000 meter course.
First, due to major construction projects underway on campus, we will forced to develop a new course in 2007 using the property of the Crossroads Christian Church. Now that construction is finished we are able to run our old loop but the building additions keep us from using the old start area. We have redesigned the course to include the Crossroads course and start area and the regular Trailblazer loop into a one loop course with a slight overlap. The final 500 meters of the course will be repeated. The middle school course will remind the same as last year and we are currently doing final measurements on it but it is expected to be between 3000 meters and 2 miles.
The Trailblazer remains the designated the Tri-Cities Region qualifying meet for the Tennessee State Middle School Championships to be held on October 18, 2008 in Knoxville. The top 5 Tennessee teams and the top 25 individuals not on those 5 teams will qualify for the state meet. The Tennessee State MS meet is not a TSSAA/TMSAA meet. It is considered a post season meet and entry for your middle school must be handled as a "cross-country club." See Brian Buckner for further explanation.
The counties that are assigned to the Tri-Cities Region are: Claiborne, Hancock, Jefferson, Hamblen, Greene, Hawkins, Sullivan, Washington, Carter, Unicoi, and Johnson.
