The 35th edition of the Trailblazer Cross-Country Invitational gets underway on Thursday, October 11, 2007. With this year's meet, we have two major changes that will be happening.
First, due to major construction projects underway on campus, meet management was forced to make course changes for this year. The finish line will remain the same and we will incorporate the final half mile of our normal course with a new path on the grounds of Crossroads Christian Church next door. Crossroads has a large piece of property that will hold our starting line and a major part of the course. The course is very spectator friendly and we believe that fans and runners will enjoy the new course. The 5000 meter course will be two loops but the second loop will be modified from the first lap to give the second loop a different look. The middle school distance is not yet set but will be in the neighborhood of 3000 meters (1.8 miles).
The second major change is the designation of the Trailblazer as the Tri-Cities Region qualifying meet for the Tennessee State Middle School Championships to be held on October 20, 2007 in Knoxville. The top 5 Tennessee teams and the top 25 individuals not on those 5 teams will qualify for the state meet.
The counties that are assigned to the Tri-Cities Region are: Claiborne, Hancock, Jefferson, Hamblen, Greene, Hawkins, Sullivan, Washington, Carter, Unicoi, and Johnson.
